“If the mother heals, we all heal.”
Inspiration behind Tarasana
A Vision Born in the Temazcal
In January 2020, inside the temazcal on her ancestral land, Tatiana Rodríguez received a vision: a round womb-shaped space where women could give birth with dignity, held by ancestral wisdom and the spirit of the land.
While that was the seed, Tarasana has since grown into so much more—a living sanctuary where people from all walks of life gather to reconnect with themselves, with nature, and with community. Today, it is a space for retreats of all kinds, weekly ceremonies, and transformational gatherings that honor the spirit of Yelapa and the wisdom of the land.
Designed in collaboration with MA Estudio, Tarasana’s womb-inspired architecture reflects cycles of renewal, protection, and blossoming. It is a temple for healing and a community hearth where life itself becomes ceremony.
We create sacred containers for transformation—spaces where ceremony, movement, voice, and nature guide the way.
Tarasana is now home to:
- Weekly temazcal ceremonies and voice activations for the local community and visitors.
- Multi-day retreats hosted by facilitators from around the world.
- Workshops and circles in yoga, meditation, herbalism, ancestral arts, and women’s gatherings.
- A welcoming sanctuary for those seeking to slow down, reconnect, and remember what is sacred.
To steward a living sanctuary in the heart of Yelapa—where ancestral wisdom, holistic practices, and community connection awaken the wholeness within.
What Tarasana Means
The name Tarasana combines:
- Tara – the Mother of Compassion in Tibetan Buddhism
- Sana – from our guiding phrase Solo Amor Necesitamos Ahora (Love Is All We Need Now)
It reflects our belief that healing begins with compassion—and that when we reconnect to ourselves and to the Earth, we begin to restore balance for all.
- Healing. Body, mind, spirit, and community
- Authenticity. True expression and honest presence
- Wellness. Physical, emotional, and energetic nourishment
- Sustainability. In harmony with the Earth and future generations
- Communion. With self, others, and nature
- Love. As a transformative force
- Personal Growth. Each unique path is honored
- Humility. Learning from all beings and traditions
- Compassion. Acting with empathy and care
- Gratitude. Honoring the sacred in each moment
Tarasana is more than a retreat center—it is a living prayer.
A sacred space where duality is embraced, where feminine and masculine dance in balance, and where life becomes ceremony. From weekly community offerings to international retreats, Tarasana invites you to return to your essence, to reconnect with nature, and to experience transformation in a safe, womb-like container.
Born in Yelapa to an American mother and Indigenous father, Tatiana Rodríguez Alexander is a musician and visionary dedicated to honoring her ancestral lands and community. As founder of Tarasana Healing Center, Ilamacoa Hotel, and the Museo Yelapa Project, she creates spaces where guests can reset, heal, and reconnect with nature while supporting Yelapa’s living culture.
Her music celebrates the natural world, blending traditional medicine songs with modern flair. Through ceremonies, workshops, and by inviting elders to share their wisdom, Tatiana weaves healing, ritual, and ancestral traditions into each guest’s journey—offering a space to return home renewed.
Whether you come to host, to attend, or simply to be held, Tarasana is here for you.
We welcome all who seek wholeness—those who remember that the Earth is sacred, our bodies are sacred, and life itself is a ceremony.
